Project achievement : the different tasks carried out.

The major tasks were : 

Task 1 : project management 

Kick-off meeting took place in February, 2003, mid-term meeting took place in July, 2004 and Final meeting in November, 2005. The principal workshops on the GIpSynoise tool took place inFebruary, March and April 2005.

Task 2 : communication, dissemination

Many articles are been published, in the local press, national and international, as articles and of conference, concerning general public and specialized level in the field of acoustics and GIS. The articles are at your disposal in the download heading or on request.

Task 3 : 2002-2003 : stae of the art, end-uses needs expression

The technical part of this task identified the software of the market and choose most relevant to use, in order not to rewrite an existing software. The operational part of this task consisted inevaluating the needs for the cities and the end-users.

Task 4 : 2003-2004 : GIpSynoise® architecture

This task, mainly technical, consisted in precisely defining the perimeter and the contents of the tool, its limits. An perception survey of noise maps was carried out by INRETS in order to perfect display of calculations which will be carried out by the tool.

Task 5 : 2004-2005 :  GIpSynoise® development

At the technical level, the GIpSynoise® tool was developed, according to architecture defined previously. At the operational level, test set were made up. At the time of the workshops of at the beginning of 2005, the city partners took delivery of the GIpSynoise® tool, used and tested the tool.


Task 6 : 2004-2005 : Tool GIpSynoise® version 1.0 and diffusion

Following the phase of tests, the tool was revised and was packaged in a version 1.0. The diffusion as freeware was then recorded. This task was also the assessment of the project and the tool regarding the application of the Environmental Noise
Directive.
